Fans of Nancy Drew PC games…?

Question:
At 28, I’m probably a little too old to enjoy Nancy Drew PC games, but I do … I love ‘em! When the kids go to bed or wind down for the night, it’s so nice to just “zone out” and/or use my brain on a deeper level than that of Sesame Street or Barney & Friends. :)

I’m not sure what TYPE of games they are (mystery? strategy? role-playing?) — but now that I’ve played almost all editions of it, I’m wondering if anyone out there has some suggestions within that same kinda type (figuring puzzles out, putting clues together, solving a crime or situation, etc.) I’ve also tried the two James Patterson’s Women’s Club PC games that are out (based on the novels) & enjoyed them a lot – even though there was a hidden-object element to them in addition to figuring out the “cases” presented.

And just for the record – I like hidden object games & they’ve become very popular recently … but that’s not really what I’m looking for. I’m more about indulging my inner-detective or super-sleuth (ha ha).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions! :)

Show on Nat Geo called ‘Brain Child’ mentioned study about playing games with kids to make them smarter. link?

Question:
I was watching a show called Brain
Child on National Geographic (

http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/channel/PT/popup/200709182200.html

), and in it they mentioned a study that a few psychologists put
togerther. They worked with children (from poor families) from birth to
about five years old. They played games and puzzles with them that they
thought would increase the childrens’ intelligence. Supoosedly the
majority of them surpassed their peers and grew up with a love of learning.
Do you know anything about this study? Who did the study? What the
name of it was? A link to an article? What kind of games they played?
