Bird Intelligence: The New Zealand Kea

The Kea (Nestor notabilis) is one clever parrot. Its curiosity and intelligence is important to its survival in the blustery winter environment on the South Island in New Zealand, and this translates into a remarkable skill at solving logic puzzles, such as the one in this clip. From the Animal Planet documentary “The Most Extreme: Episode 10: Thinkers”, narrated by some annoying git. The Ulpaniada Competition

What is The Ulpaniada? A problem solving competition, based on math skills and logical reasoning for Orthodox high school girls. It is in its fourth year in Israel. This year, for the first time, it is going international. Girls from Orthodox high schools worldwide are invited to participate. How is it structured? There are three rounds. The first one consists of a timed test of 20 multiple choice problems (two and a half hours). The second and third rounds consist of both multiple choice problems and additional open questions. The first and second rounds will take place in your own high school. Girls who qualify will be invited to Jerusalem to participate in the final round together with girls from around the world. Can I participate? Until this year, the competition was open to girls in high school or national service in Israel, but this year we are broadening our horizons! If you are a girl currently in an Orthodox high school setting, and you enjoy solving math puzzles and logic problems, then this is your chance to be a part of the very first international Ulpaniada! So what’s in it for me? Besides that great feeling you get when you manage to crack a particularly tricky problem, and the excitement of facing a challenge, there’s more. If you qualify for the final round, you will be invited to come to Jerusalem to compete against other finalists from around the world. You will receive a certificate of participation from the Israeli Minister of Education. In addition

Logic Puzzle #4 WLP

I’ve decided to start a collection of logic puzzle videos after completing the great Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box DS game. I’ll add a WLP (Weekly Logic Puzzle) every Monday. These puzzles only require thinking, and there shouldn’t be a need for any outside knowledge about the puzzle. The puzzles will have small modifications to other logic puzzles I already know, making this a unique collection. I’ll add a new puzzle every day for 7 days to kick this off. Please leave comments about what you think about this plan of mine. I think it will be a lot of fun. ^^ Also, I’m sorry if you already saw the answer from the channel page. I tried changing the thumbnail but nothing worked. Music: www.newgrounds.com
